2011 Elections: Where will you place ya hand?

One day a Corrupt Senator was tragically hit by a car and died. His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance. "Welcome " says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, you have to spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you choose where to spend eternity.
Then St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course, a clubhouse and in front of it are all his friends, politicians who had worked with him. Everyone is very happy. They run to greet him, shake hands, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people. They played a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and the finest champagne. Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who is having a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are all having such a good time that before the Senator realises it, it is time to go. Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while d elevator rises... The elevator goes up, up, and the door reopens in heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him, "Now it's time to visit heaven.."So, 24hours passed with d Senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud2cloud, playing the harp and singing. They had a good time. St. Peter returns."Well, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity. "The Senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: "Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell. "So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down to hell..Now d doors of the elevator open and he's in d middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage, all his friends dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above. The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulders. "I don't understand, "stammers d Senator. "Yesterday I was here What happened? "D devil smiles at him and says, "Yesterday WE WERE CAMPAIGNING. Today, YOU VOTED.."

MORAL OF THE STORY: Vote wisely in 2011 Elections so as not to end up like the politician in the story!

Just recently, Budding Rapper, the 'Dreamer' crooner, Young Pizzy released a new single featuring a Toni Payne managed artiste and one of the hottest female act in the industry, Zara.
The track titled 'Apology' centre on the topic of forgiveness in a relationship between a man and woman 'which necessitated the need to have Zara the flyest on the record', the rapper explains for the collaboration. 'The issue of err and forgiveness featuring both gender', Pizzy and Zara.  On his relationship with Zara, he said: 'We have been friends for a while, if a collaboration didn't happen now, it would have happened in the nearest future'.
Young Pizzy is a quadruple threat;- recording artiste, producer, songwriter and video director.
The 'Apology', a single off  the album titled ‘Diary of a Paper Chaser’  with other growing hit singles like 'Dreamer' and 'Liquid, leaf and sound'.
Young Pizzy was born to a father who was a showbiz promoter and artiste manager. His birth name is
Agbambu Prince Uchechukwu and he grew up in the low brow  area of Lagos but hails from Ibuza in Asaba, Delta state, Nigeria, was born into a family that loves music and entertainment as a whole.  Young Pizzy starred in the music video for Daddy Fresh who was been managed by his father then and the singular action inspired him to write his own lyrics - at the age of 7. To create a style and sound of his own, he began listening to Vicious, Warren G,  Late Fela kuti, Buju banton, Kris Kross, Aaliyah, Junior & Pretty, Daddy Fresh and a host of others.
At the age of 12, he got enrolled into the boys brigade band, where he stood out as a nifty for snare drummer and like other successful musician, he had a fair share of 'church experience'  in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ajegunle. At 15, he started music professionally and joined Raymass Family, with Rayan T (Nothin dey par) as the leader of the group.
If we haven't forgotten, one of his songs 'Dreamer' appeared on my Top10 Naija Songs of 2010. He is an artist to watch out for.

NNPC TEST FORMAT!!

Bearing in mind the little time available to those writing the NNPC test on saturday, I have taken time out to research on the test format and I have come up with just one format which is the most likely format. It was posted on the web in November 2010 and further research shows that a similar format was posted on the web in 2006.
Please note that this format is in no way representing the true questions of the NNPC test, it is to serve as a guide to those writing the test who are to practise, solve and answer the questions relating to the format and ensuring that they know the concept of arriving at the answers of similar questions.
Success is what I wish you all!

This format was sighted on the naijahotjobs website.

Related pages in GMATs for the NNPC test format:

PLEASE GO THROUGH “O-LEVEL PHYSICS AND CHEMISTRY ” for the above topics, they will sure help very well.

Below is the similar format that was posted on the web in 2006. It was sighted on the careersNG website.
1. General Apt test of 120 questions comprising of 4 different parts.
PART A:
Diagrams in which you will have to figure out the next one. Its exactly a lift from the GMAT 2005 and 2006. There's no difference. I do not have the GMATs at the moment else I would have written out the pages. Just study them well my people. Questions 1-30

COVENANT UNIVERSITY (CU) AND VIRGINITY TEST

Just recently, it was rumoured that Covenant University will be conducting virginity test for her female students and this became a subject of discussion on twitter as 'Covenant University', 'CU' and 'Virginity Test' made the top trending spot on not just the Lagos side of twitter but on the Naija side of twitter.
Tweeps (Twitter Users) were quick to react and once again it was seen as a chance to condemn and ridicule the name of Covenant University but 48hrs later, the DSA (Dean of Student Affairs) of Covenant University who is also an old student of Covenant University issued a statement addressing the rumour to the members of the Alumni of Covenant University via the Facebook Alumni page stating clearly
that the story is noting but a rumour.
"
I am sure you have heard about it peddled all around the social media that we are embarking on a virginity test in CU.
I am surprised as to the source of that information because it is spurious. There was never a time when a discussion was led in that direction. Please lets learn to verify claims before making comments. I am sure some of US believe anything can happen in CU and thats why this may not have been doubted. There is nothing like that at all. We are building a better Covenant University than you left it" he wrote.

LOST BUT FOUND: The Prayer Nigeria Needs!

Do you know the Nigerian National Anthem?
Can you recite the 2nd Stanza of the National Anthem?
More than 90% of Nigerians do not know the 2nd Stanza of the Nigerian National Anthem and if research can be carried out, we all will be surprised that the rulers of this great nation; Nigeria, do not know if there is a 2nd stanza to the national anthem not to talk of them knowing it.
The 2nd stanza of the national anthem is gradually fading away and turning into a thing of the past based on the lackadaisical attitude of Nigerians in collaboration with the corrupt minds of the leaders which have contributed greatly to the neglect of the 2nd Stanza of the Nigerian National Anthem which is the prayer Nigeria needs at this trying times.
The 2nd stanza goes thus:

O God of creation, direct our noble course
Guide thou our leaders right
Help our youth the truth to know
In love and honesty to grow
And living just and true
Great lofty heights attain
To build a nation where peace
And justice shall reign.

I hope one day, the 2nd stanza will be brought back into the National Anthem and taught in our schools giving our kids the chance to utter a word of prayer to this great nation every morning and also understand the usefulness of corrupt-free behaviour on the kind of leader they aspire to be.

DonJazzy left speechless as D'Banj got beaten by a dancer

At about 4pm US time (10pm Naija time), Sesan; a popular video director, who directed almost all if not all of D'Banj's Video including the much hyped 'Mr. Endowed remix' ft Snoop Dogg had to call it a day after D'Banj got beaten by a female Dancer.
An eyewitness who failed to disclose his identity told us that the dancer who is a professional was taught how to dance 'alanta' some few minutes before the video shoot but after various attempts to get her on tape proved abortive due to her silly mistakes, D'banj opted to help her out.
"I guess D'banj noticed the disappointment and frustration in her (the dancer's) face and decided to be of help and possibly help the whole team move on, the eyewitness narrated. He said to Sesan 'Director, I beg gimme 5mins make I follow her talk', he then took her to another room and before we knew what was happening,
we heard shouts of Fuck U! Fuck U! as the dancer storms out of the room heading straight for her bag, she left the venue without uttering a word to anybody. It was then that Don Jazzy entered the room and found D'Banj with a busted lip holding his head. When asked what happened, he also refused to utter a word but according to close sources, D'Banj was said to have been sighted on CCTV touching her boobs which probably must have been the reason for the dancer's action'.

The art of Writing

Pardon me to be your teacher for a day, this is something I have always wanted to do. I have talked to so many people about writing skills, how great writers were not born but made and how anyone can be a great writer if only they can listen to, stimulate, explore and develop that part of them that always try to find a way of expressing itself. But first, we need to understand what writing means.
Writing can be said to be an art or a way of combining words to form meaningful sentences. Writing can also be said to be 'the act or art of forming letters and characters on paper, wood, stone, or other material, for the purpose of recording the ideas which characters and words express, or of communicating them to others by visible signs'. Writing has also been defined to include 'the work of a writer; anything expressed in letters of the alphabet (especially when considered from the point of view of style and effect)'.
Therefore, writing can be said to be an act, art or a skill that is already embedded in you but until you enable and develop it, it will never be functional.

What I simply mean by this is that, Writing is not a special talent given only to selected few at birth, neither is it a gene that can be passed from one generation to another. Writing is simply an art that involves the combination of words to form not just a meaningful sentence but an interesting one. Now, the great question is 'How do you form an interesting sentence?'
The basic and most powerful trick of creating an interesting sentence is being able to connect with every single line of the event, situation or topic you are writing on. You don't have to be an eyewitness to be able to write an interesting article neither does being an eyewitness automatically guarantee you of writing an interesting article. All you need to do is focus on the event or topic you are writing on like its happening right there before your eyes, cos until you can visualise and connect with it, you can never relate, translate and pen it down in such a way that will make your readers connect with it.
Another basic trick is found in the saying that 'he who stands on the shoulder of those that went before him will see further than others'. With this saying, its clearly spelt out that you need to develop your writing skills by familiarising yourself with the writings of others, connect with the way and manner by which they construct their sentences, how they start and how they end, the kind of details they dish out in the first paragraph that makes readers want to read the whole story and also how they construct their article headlines.
Lastly, you must be articulate. This is the most tricky of them all and also the most important. You must be able to express your thoughts clearly enough for your readers to understand and connect with. Try avoiding unnecessary use of ambiguous words, avoid, unnecessary repetition and most of all, write in the language that your readers are comfortable with and finds very easy to read.
Let me take you back to the story of a famous writer who, as a little boy always sneak out in the middle of the night to send his story to a newspaper company. His stories were rejected not once nor twice but so many times yet, he never relented. He later turned out to be one of the greatest writers of all times.
One thing his story has taught me is that 'writing' is simply 'writing', confusing hun? this means 'writing an article' can be likened to 'learning how to write', that is, writing an article is simply writing the letters of the alphabet with 3 main goals in mind, these goals include;
1) To inform
2) To appeal and or
3) To make an argument
No writing is complete without having at lest one of the above goals and most writers write towards achieving at least two of the above goals.
Remember: A GREAT WRITER IS NOT BORN BUT MADE.

PS: Always take into consideration your style and motive, do not try to imitate or impersonate anyone.
