Aliko Dangote; Founder and CEO of the Dangote Group tops Forbes list of Africa's 40 Richest with a $10.1 billion fortune built on cement and commodities

Forbes Magazine recently turned its head in recognition ofAfrica’s business/ wealthiest people thereby lunching ‘Forbes Africa’ and havesince released two list among which is ‘Whowere Africa’s Richest Dictators’ and ‘Africa’s40 Richest’.

According to a statement on Forbes website, "Forbes’ inaugural list of the 40 Richest People in Africa is a testament to the growing global importance of the continent. Fortunes are being created everywhere from South Africa clear north to Morocco and Egypt in a diverse array of industries, by companies that cater to local tastes or worldwide needs. The combined wealth of the 40 richest is $64.9 billion – more than Thailand’s 40 richest (at $45 billion) but less than Taiwan’s (at $92.7 billion)." (Source: Forbes Website, 2011)

Contrary to rumors peddling around that has been pointing towards Mike Adenuga as the Nigeria richest man, Mike Adenuga ranked 5^thon the list of ‘Africa’s 40 Richest’with a net worth of $ 4,300 million while Aliko Dangote tops (1^st on) the list with a net worth of $ 10,100 million. Other Nigerians in the listincludes; Jim Ovia ranked 17^thwith a net worth of $775 million, Theophilus Danjuma ranked 21^st witha net worth of $600 million, Oba Otudeko ranked 24^th with a networth of $550 million, Hakeem Belo-Osagie ranked 28^th with a networth of $450 million, Abdulsamad Rabiu ranked 29^th wih a net worthof $400 million and MohammedIndimi ranked 30^th with a net worth of $330 million.
