30 Day Challenge: Day 27

Day 27: A Quote I Try to Live By

****This is one of the reasons why I don’t like blogging with my phone. I ended up saving this as draft yesterday instead of publishing. Now the 30 day challenge seem to be missing one day but *Shrugs* dem no dey pay me joor.

For the next few days, my post will be short and precise. I’ve got hustles to keep up with, money to make, family and friends to attend to and health to take care of. I started blogging cos I love writing and I started writing based on my own ‘Principles’. I make my own writing rules and I don’t care what the so called ‘standards’ are. If they can’t keep up with mine, then they are on a very long thing.

There’s this quote I have always tried my best to live by and it’s from no other person than a trusted journalist. Dele Giwa is a man who lived and died for the truth. I won’t go into details of how he was killed by a ‘letter bomb’ during the time of IBB or how Soyinka was said to have been in that same room with him and yet survived a bomb that affected the AC unit and burglary of that room.

I’m not here to rant over his death or anyone’s involvement, am here to let you in on this saying which I came across/ heard when I was a kid and I have made up my mind to do just exactly what the quote says or at worst, I will rather hold my peace, keep quiet and make no comment than to give account of what is not.

This quote is one of the greatest I have ever heard in my entire life and it takes nothing but boldness and a clean heart to say this;
I will rather say the truth and die than fail to say the truth and sell my conscience ---- Dele Giwa
