MI, 7days, Music and Me

Some few days ago when MI tweeted truths about #7days, I actually thought he was talking about a part of the bible and I became anxious when I learnt that he was talking about a song he just released.
My anxiety died and I chose not to download nor listen to the song after reading his blasphemy tweet which stated that "God listened to the song 7days before creating the world in 7days". I mean if you want some cheap hype, why involve the name of the Lord in a blasphemy way?? *in 2face's voice* 'nobody holy pass' but this is just too much to do for a cheap hype but....

Goodbye....

Saying 'Goodbye' is one of the hardest things in life but one way or the other, either we say it or not, there are times we just have to move on leaving some things behind us.
I have always wanted to do this for more than a year now but somehow, I always find myself shying away from the reality of the fact that it was time for me to move on.
Maybe it was due to the fact that there was a point in time when I derived so much happiness and self-satisfying pleasure in doing it, or maybe how sad and lonely I will be without it.

An Interesting Read/Calculation on Fuel Subsidy by Pastor Tunde Bakare

DEFINITION: To subsidise is to sell a product below the cost of production.
Since the Federal Government has been secretive about the state of our refineries and their production capacity, we will focus on importation rather than production. So, in essence, within the Nigerian Fuel Subsidy context, to subsidise is to sell petrol below the cost of importation.
The unsubstantiated claims of the Federal Government: The government claims that Nigerians consume 34 million litres of petrol per day. The government has also said publicly that N141 per litre is the unsubsidised pump price of petrol imported into Nigeria. (N131.70 kobo being the landing price and N9.30 kobo being profit.)

TUESDAY 17TH JANUARY, 2012 AT THE SNG SECRETARIAT.
Gentlemen of the Press,
Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen,
(1 minute silence in honour of all our fallen heroes, past and present)
The general strike and citizens action which followed the January 1, 2012 on 117 percent increase in the pump price of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) has proved a defining moment in the history of our country and one from which the correct lessons must be learnt and matters arising squarely dealt with in order to deepen our democracy and ensure that our country is never run again in the old way.

Fuel Subsidy: For The Greater Good?

Its no longer news that the Nigeria Federal Governments Subsidy on Petrol has been removed. What's news is the citizens reality of its removal, their actions, rants nd jokes emanating form the removal.
Forgive me for my lack of manners but the issue at hand is one that can 'make' or 'break' a nation. Just like in Libya, it all started with a tweet but I wonder if Nigerians are brave enough to tread the part of Libya.
By this, I don't mean Nigerians are cowards, but somehow, Nigerians have been groomed to believe in the saying 'when there is life, there is hope' and knowing that a protest might end up like that of "Lekki toll-gate" or more still, turn out to be just like every other protest which at the end of the day, the government will employ dialogue with no result to show for it while we all go home and comply.

Sometime ago, a friend of mine sent this to me. She had no idea of what I was going through but am sure she had me in mind that morning and she decided to send me a message I will like to call "The Relief Package".
I really don't know what you're going through but I felt a strong urge in me to send this your way and I pray it ministers to you and calm you just as it did to me. #GodBlessYou!

A Letter To Nigeria

Dear Nigeria,
How are you and how are your kids? I guess I need not ask after those 'watching' over you ‘cos am sure they will be doing great in their 'bank accounts' both home and abroad.
I know you've gotten and will still get so many letters from the 'who is who' both in and outside the country wishing you happy independence but I hope and wish this little letter of one of your troubled kids get to you.
Today is a day of celebration so I’m not here to remind us of the bad times but after 51 years of chasing the colonial masters out of your life, ARE WE THERE YET???
Mother, in this trying times, we still have smiles on our faces and we still see a need to celebrate you, little wonder why we were tagged the happiest people on earth. I just hope and pray that the bomb of Boko Haram will never get to ‘us’ but we all know that the occupants of a house who’s roof is on fire should never leave the fire fighters to battle with the fire while they are busy having dinner inside that same house.

Why Boys Will Always Be Boys

I write more often than I post and I read more than I write so I tend to get most of my topics from the 'hidden' words in other peoples writings and this post you're about to read is one of such. This is not in anyway a reply to the post but oh! Well.... It has had its own fair share of the draft experience so EnJoY!!!
***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** *****
This wasn't the story I had in mind but after reading the post 'Her Story' on Kemmiiii's blog, my mind changed, I felt the need to address the saying 'Boys will always be Boys' when it comes to relationships.
Though, I felt pain for the 'Adeleye' tattooed gurl, I felt more pain in my heart when I read the phrase 'Boys will always be Boys', maybe cos that's the part 'I got mentioned' or can it be that gurls will never be gurls??? *now asking Google*
I am not here to tell you the story of how the poor mans wife suddenly became the wife of the rich man or how a gurl dumped her boyfriend for his best friend cos he's richer and commands more resources, neither am I here to tell you how a gurl used black magic on a guy so that he will love her *changes channel from African Magic to Discovery Channel*. All am about is that, the reason 'Boys will always be Boys', is the fact that 'Girls haven't and will never stop being Girls'.

D'Banj, Music and Me

****I have written this post for weeks, not with the intention of publishing it but just to put down my thoughts and Move on but.... oh well....... Update is below. EnJoY!!!
It was good news for the Nigerian Music/Entertainment Industry, Music lovers and most especially the Nigerian born singer and his Producer, D'Banj and DonJazzy when Kanye's own G.O.O.D Music Label signed them on.
Though, rumour has it that they 'paid' their way through as busy bodies claimed they paid something in the range of $10,000 to Snopp Dogg who brought them into the 'international collabo lime light' which ultimately got them the sign-on contract but #IsThatWhyWeAreHere? #MovingOn
Recently, D'Banj dropped a new single titled 'Oliver' aka 'Oliver Twist' which I guess is off his forthcoming album, 'Mr. Endowed' and just like every other music lover, I was happy to have it after so much hype and promo but unfortunately 'O di dan dan, D'Banj needy needy kon-kon' to wash his head and mouth in the river ogun cos this song is just way below Par and in fact it's wack.
